17.20.040 Instruction of Members.

During the first six (6) months of their initial term, members of the planning commission should take instruction for a minimum of three (3) hours, consisting of lectures, seminars, or other presentations designed to afford an understanding of:
(1) the general principles of land use planning as applied to the city, its environs, and the region;
(2) the nature and elements of the Comprehensive Plan for the city;
(3) the duties, responsibilities, scope of authority and limitations on discretion of the planning commission with emphasis on constitutional and other legal aspects thereof;
(4) appropriate standards to be applied in arriving at findings of fact and formulating recommendations. (Ord. 22-9 §2, 2022; Ord. 87-9 §1, 1987).
