The procedure for review and approval of a subdivision shall consist of the following steps:

(1) Review of the preliminary plat application by the city staff to determine whether the application is acceptable for filing. Final decision on acceptability will be made by the director. The date upon which the director determines that the plat is acceptable shall constitute the filing date for the preliminary plat;

(2) Review of the proposed preliminary plat by the department of public works in order to determine compliance with state and local laws and regulations;

(3) Submission of the proposed preliminary plat along with the comments or recommendations of interested departments or agencies to the Planning Commission for public hearing;

(4) Submission of the preliminary plat and the recommendation of the Planning Commission to the City Council for approval or disapproval; and setting a date for public hearing if council so desires;

(5) Review of the final plat by the city staff and submission to City Council for approval or disapproval;

(6) Approval of the final plat as indicated by the signature of the mayor thereon and recording of the plat in the county auditor’s office. (Ord. 80-42 §8, 1980).
