The city attorney shall advise city staff, officers, boards and commissions, and elected officials in all legal matters pertaining to the business of the city and shall approve all ordinances and resolutions as to form. The city attorney shall represent the city in all actions brought by or against the city or against city officials in their official capacity. The city attorney shall attend all regular and special City Council business meetings except when excused. The city attorney shall also attend workshop sessions at the request of the City Council, the mayor, or the city administrator. (Ord. 18-25 §5, 2018; Ord. 80-2 §2, 1980).
